Finnish Wind Power Association is now Renewables Finland

Finnish Wind Power Association expands its activities to include not only wind power but also industrial-scale solar power and will operate under the name Renewables Finland. Wind and solar power are the fastest way to promote domestic renewable energy production, which in turn will enable a sustainable green transition. With the extension, Renewables Finland will be at the forefront of the green transition and will be the most significant representative of renewable energy in Finland.

With the change, Renewables Finland will represent the three largest investors in the domestic energy sector – onshore wind power, offshore wind power and solar power. According to the Finnish energy attitudes survey, wind and solar power are also the most desirable ways to generate electricity in Finland. The association’s role in the green transition is important, as clean energy production also enables other clean technology solutions that have a significant impact on Finland’s economic growth, energy independence and security, and the fight against climate change.

The potential of fast-growing wind and solar power for Finnish industry and investment is significant. According to Confederation of Finnish Industries green transition forecasts, the combined investment potential of wind and solar power is estimated at just under €200 billion, and when compared to the total investment in Finland of €65 billion in 2022, this is a significant sector with a remarkable impact on the national economy.

“New investment in green industry is the key to Finland’s GDP growth.  These investments will require significant amounts of additional new clean electricity generation, i.e. wind and solar power, to materialize, says Matias Ollila“, Director of Advocacy of Renewables Finland.

Renewables Finland will continue to offer its members support for the development of the renewable energy sector. The association’s old contact details and website will remain available for the time being. The association’s new brand will be launched at the Wind Finland seminar at the Helsinki Cable Factory on 1st October.
